Unleashing the potential of AI in Healthcare and E-Brainscience

Artificial Intelligence is one of the fast-growing technologies worldwide as it brings the capacity of programming digital computers or robots to perform tasks in a more efficient way from time, cost and energy viewpoints. The benefits associated with Artificial Intelligence are not only linked to economic and technological aspects as this technology offers also the opportunity to find solutions that address some of the main society’s issues, related to, for example, healthcare, manufacturing, or energy. However, Artificial Intelligence can help society only if it is developed through high-quality systems that allow people to trust them and show concrete advantages to them, businesses and governments.

In this context, the AI-SPRINT and Morphemic projects are developing AI-based frameworks that aim to exploit the potential offered by Artificial Intelligence and Cloud Computing to offer tools and open-source platforms. The validity of the work conducted by these two projects is going to be demonstrated through thematic use cases.

The main objectives and achievements of AI-SPRINT and Morphemic are going to be presented during the dedicated webinar "Unleashing the potential of AI in Healthcare and E-Brainscience" on 2 November at 15:00 (CET) where the attendees can learn more about the projects' main solutions with practical use cases developed in the field of E-Brainscience (Morphemic) and Personalised Healthcare (AI-SPRINT).

Who should attend the webinar

The webinar is open to all actors involved in Edge, AI and Data communities including research organisations, associations linked to computing continuum technologies, developers and domain experts, Governments & Policy Makers, citizens and civil society.

About the projects

The aim of AI-SPRINT (Artificial Intelligence in Secure PRIvacy-preserving computing coNTinuum) is to define a novel framework for developing and operating AI applications, together with their data, exploiting computing continuum environments, which include resources from the edge up to the cloud. AI-SPRINT offers novel tools for AI applications development, secure execution, easy deployment, as well as runtime management and optimisation. AI-SPRINT tools allow trading-off application performance (in terms of end-to-end latency or throughput), energy efficiency, and AI models accuracy while providing security and privacy guarantees. The AI-SPRINT framework supports AI applications data protection, architecture enhancement, agile delivery, runtime optimization, and continuous adaptation.

By doing so, AI-SPRINT meets the digitisation needs of businesses and the public sector proving its competitive edge and replicability in three real-world scenarios, spanning farming 4.0, maintenance and inspection and personalised healthcare in line with EU priority areas for AI investments.

MORPHEMIC is an extension of the MELODIC multi-cloud platform: a single universal platform and the simplest and easiest way for optimised deployment and management of applications cross-cloud. This open-source platform is extended into MORPHEMIC with two main innovative pillars: the polymorph architecture and the proactive adaptation.

MORPHEMIC covers several areas, such as Cloud Computing; Big data and Open data; and Artificial Intelligence. 12 partners from 7 countries are developing the innovative MORPHEMIC platform, which provides a unique way of adapting and optimising Cloud computing applications for future specialised hardware configurations like GPUs, TPUs, AI chips, FPGA, HPC.
